New project development with a focus on developing the credit union model (including cooperative financial institutions) as a way to promote financial inclusion to better peoples' lives in the developing world. The position includes travel to complete country assessments and review project opportunities (with a focus on USAID, USDA, Gates, and UNCDF); identification of new opportunities for expansion of financial solutions for development; liaising with credit unions, their associations, and other financial institutions; marketing to donor organizations; and preparation of funding proposals.

Education and Experience: BA/BS Degree in business, finance, banking or economics or related field or equivalent training and experience required. Advanced degree in related field desired. At least three (3) to five (5) years of experience in international business development, including bid coordination and management; marketing/communications; and an additional two (2) years of project management experience with economic growth (e.g., micro-finance), food security, health, and/or other international development programs.. Proven success at identifying and securing new business opportunities highly desired. Knowledge of USAID required; experience with other funders (e.g., USDA, UN, Gates) desired.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact closely with technical and managerial staff and maintain good working relationships within and outside of the organization. Ability to work as a team player towards organizational goals and objectives.
Language Skills: Fluency in English (spoken and written) is required; French, Spanish or Arabic language fluency (spoken and written) desired. Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to communicate concepts and ideas effectively; proficient in use of English grammar and punctuation. Writing sample will be requested.
Mathematical Skills: Intermediate mathematical skills required including ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
Reasoning Skills: High reasoning skills required including the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate and monitor work flows from multiple sources, and meet deadlines for submission of proposals. Ability to work independently and demonstrate excellent attention to detail. Work effectively by self-direction.
Computer Skills: Expertise in working with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
