Yvonne Ridguard Harris is a member of the World Council of Credit Unions' Board of Directors, which is headquartered in Madison, Wis., USA. Ridguard Harris represents the Caribbean credit union movement; the Caribbean Confederation of Credit Unions (CCCU) which is a member organization of the World Council of Credit Unions. World Council is the leading international trade association and development agency for credit unions worldwide, serving 57,000 credit unions in 105 countries and 217,000,000 people. The regional, national credit union and financial cooperative associations, affiliated with World Council, represent 56 countries around the globe.
In June 2009, Ridguard Harris became the first female president of CCCU. Two years prior, Ridguard Harris also became the first female president of the Jamaica Co-operative Credit Union League Ltd. (JCCUL). Ridguard Harris was also the first female President of the Portland Co-operative Credit Union, Ltd. (PCCU) in Jamaica, having served as president from July 2002 to May 2008.
In her Portland community where she resides, she has been a director of both the Portland Environment Protection Association and the Associated Chamber of Commerce of Jamaica. She currently serves as a committee member of the Portland Parish Library and the Port Antonio Public Hospital.
