Patrick Jury, 2nd vice chair of World Council of Credit Unions' board of directors, represents the U.S. credit union movement as president/CEO of the Iowa Credit Union League (ICUL). Headquartered in Madison, Wis., USA, World Council is the leading international trade association and development agency for credit unions. Worldwide, 57,000 credit unions in 105 countries serve 217,000,000 people. The regional and national credit union and financial cooperative associations affiliated with World Council represent 89 countries around the globe.
Jury joined the credit union movement in 1989 as ICUL vice president, government affairs and then as COO. He was named ICUL president/CEO in 2006. Jury serves as the CEO/chairman of Affiliates Management Company, chairs the boards of Community Business Lenders and TMG Financial Services and is a member of the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) board of directors. He also represents credit unions on the executive committee and board of directors of SHAZAM, Inc., the state's electronic funds transfer organization for financial institutions.
ICUL has an active World Council international partnership with COFEP, the credit union league in Panama. Along with maintaining this partnership over the past six years, Jury has also participated in World Council delegations traveling to Russia, Poland and Germany to study global credit union advocacy. Jury has been a speaker at the Eastern European Credit Union Conference and hosted the Central American Advocacy Conference in conjunction with the New York Credit Union League and World Council.
Jury is past president of the Iowa Society of Association Executives and currently serves on the Local Selective Service board. Jury formerly served as a board member of CUNA Strategic Services and was an executive committee member of the Iowa Taxpayers Association. He earned a master's degree in public administration from Drake University, is a graduate of the Institute for Organizational Management Program at Stanford University and has achieved the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation from the American Society of Association Executives.
