As the government withdrew its regulatory system in Uganda, World Council collaborated with the Canadian Cooperative Association (CCA) to build an effective credit union examination system for the national federation. 36 Credit Unions Rebuilt after Tsunami

July 2006

Dear WOCCU Supporter, Following the December 2004 Asian Tsunami, World Council Supporter gifts enabled our staff on the ground in Sri Lanka to oversee construction and consolidation of credit unions. When it was time to rebuild, credit unions around the world were there to help. Credit unions rescheduled loan terms and provided rebuilding grants and education to teach members new skills to earn a living.
