Due to the great success of the first program, World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) launched its second Hispanic Marketing Immersion Program in Morelia, Mexico on September 21, 2008 with seven participants from different corners of the credit union system and different corners of the world. The program is designed to allow U.S. credit union professionals insight into the highly successful marketing strategies of the Mexican credit unions or cajas in hopes of U.S. credit unions replicating or inventing similar marketing strategies to help them tap into the highly underserved Hispanic community.
During this complete immersion experience, the participants attended an intensive Spanish language course in the morning and enjoyed staying with a Mexican host family. Afternoons were spent with either Caja Morelia-Valladolid or Federacion Alianza-two of the largest cajas in Mexico-to learn about their marketing efforts, services, and products designed specifically for the Hispanic community.
