Transportation Hong Kong offers a variety of ways to get you where you want to go. Buses, trains, taxis and ferries are all commonly used to get around. Charges for methods of transportation vary, but most are quite reasonable. To see more about transportation, please click here. Visa requirements Visitors to Hong Kong must hold a passport that is valid for at least six months after the planned departure date from Hong Kong. Nationals of most countries are not required to obtain visas and can stay for periods ranging from seven days to 180 days, depending on nationality. Visa requirements for Hong Kong differ from those for mainland China. For more information about visa requirements for Hong Kong, please click here. Border and customs All visitors entering Hong Kong must clear Hong Kong Customs. Authorities there take temperatures of Hong Kong arrivals to help ensure the health and safety of both visitors and residents. Visitors with temperatures above 38° C/100.4° F will be denied entry to the country and advised to seek medical attention. With this regulation in place, we suggest purchasing travel insurance. WOCCU will not refund any conference fees if you are not permitted to enter Hong Kong. What to tell Hong Kong customs agents When asked your reason for visiting, keep your answer simple and truthful: "I am attending a meeting at the Hong Kong Convention Center." Saying that you’re “working in China” could raise further questions about your visa status, complicating Customs procedures. Bringing children into Hong Kong Customs officers looking for missing children may ask questions about the children who are traveling with you. You should carry passport identification for each child traveling with you. Divorced parents who share custody of their children should carry copies of the legal custody documents. Adults traveling with children who are not their own should have written permission from the children’s parents or guardians to supervise them. When traveling with a group of vehicles, parents or guardians should travel in the same vehicle as the children when arriving at the border.
