Mountain West Credit Union Association has signed an international partnership with Alianza, a Mexican credit union association in Guanajuato, Mexico.
The partnership was arranged through the World Council of Credit Unions' International Partnership Program and will unite 175 credit unions and more than $29 billion in assets.
Founded in 2011, the Mountain West Credit Union Association is the regional tri-state trade association representing 154 member credit unions, 3.2 million credit union members and $29 billion in assets throughout Arizona, Colorado and Wyoming.
The partnership will focus on strengthening Alianza's member credit unions through the development of new products and services, as well as enhanced innovation, technology and overall business operations. Participating credit unions will also provide mutual assistance in training, member service, loan underwriting and marketing.
"We are all very excited about the opportunity to have the unique experience to help perpetuate the credit union movement and assist in developing a stronger international credit union system through expanding cooperative networks," said Mike Williams, chairman of the Mountain West Credit Union Association. "The value of working together with Alianza and the World Council of Credit Unions will strengthen all of our business practices as we work to build new and enhanced models together."
