Worldwide Foundation Leadership


Board of Directors

The board of directors of the Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions (WF) consists of nine to 15 voting members who are elected to govern the foundation by and from the delegates representing World Council's member countries. Each director serves a two-year term of office. The board is led by the chairman, first vice chairman, second vice chairman, secretary and treasurer. Directors convene at the annual general assembly at World Council's World Credit Union Conference and throughout the year.

Brian Branch

President & Chief Executive Officer

Brian Branch was appointed as president and CEO of World Council of Credit Unions in 2011. Dr. Branch has worked at World Council since 1990 and has been engaged in development fieldwork, research and implementation for more than 30 years.

Calyn Ostrowski

Calyn Ostrowski

Executive Director, Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions

Calyn Ostrowski is responsible for the Worldwide Foundation's $1.4M fundraising initiatives, operations and grantmaking activities. The Foundation, in conjunction with World Council's development programs, helps millions of people transition from everyday survival to long-term planning for their future through credit unions.

Calyn also oversees the Global Women's Leadership Network, which is a World Council program that gives women access to a global community of credit union leaders dedicated to advising one another and to cultivating the leadership potential of women worldwide.

Prior to joining World Council, she previously managed the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars' Global Health Initiative, a foreign policy think tank in Washington, D.C. In this capacity, she worked with U.S. and international policymakers, NGOs, corporations, donors and academia to improve policies and programs for women in developing countries.

Calyn holds a Master's degree in nonprofit management from Case Western Reserve University and has an extensive background in communications, nonprofit operations, program management, fundraising and strategic planning.
