Fundraising Campaign

This year's ICU Day theme — Local Service. Global Good.™ — celebrates credit unions' constant drive to help make communities better places for their members worldwide. To bring this theme to life, World Council invites all credit unions and their national associations to implement International Credit Union Day fundraising campaigns in support of a local or national charity of their choice.

Each country will be asked to report charitable donations leading up to and throughout ICU Day. With this data, World Council will disseminate a global report that shines light on credit unions' works of good at the community, national and international levels.

Possible activities to raise contributions include:

  • Crowdfunding websites (e.g., Crowdrise)
  • Fundraising events with social media coverage
  • In-branch coin drives
  • Corporate matching and office fundraising challenges
  • Credit union interchange fees for all card transactions
  • Add-on donation options for members to make through debit/card transactions

In the U.S., Credit Unions for Kids, in partnership with the Credit Union National Association, will hold Shop for Miracles, a one-day fundraising program to support local Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Each time members use their credit union-issued credit or debit card on Oct. 16, participating credit unions will donate a pre-determined amount to their local hospital.
