GREENSBORO, NC — Eleven representatives from Caja Morelia, a credit union located in Central Mexico, will visit the Triad area October 29 – November 3rd. The credit union representatives will meet with staff at three Triad-area credit unions as part of their visit.

The goal of the trip is to exchange information about information technology systems, branches and points of service, as well as accounting systems. During the visit, Caja Morelia will enter into a formal agreement with NC credit unions to continue sharing information on a cooperative level.

“We’re excited to host the delegation from Caja Morelia,” remarked NC Credit Union League President/CEO John Radebaugh. “Credit unions are cooperative institutions, and this visit and agreement shows the level of commitment we have to working together … not only across the State, but also the world.”

The delegation from Caja Morelia will visit with Premier Federal Credit Union in Greensboro from 1:30 – 4:00 pm on Tuesday, October 30th. Truliant Federal Credit Union in Winston-Salem will host the group from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm Wednesday, October 31st. The group will return to Winston-Salem on Thursday to meet with representatives of Allegacy Federal Credit Union from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm.

The visit and agreement is part of the World Council of Credit Unions’ (WOCCU) International Partnerships Program. WOCCU’s Partnerships Program partners credit unions and credit union organizations worldwide. NC credit unions have been in a similar partnership with the South American country Suriname for many years.

The North Carolina Credit Union League is the state trade association for the nearly 120 NC credit unions. Credit unions are not-for-profit financial institutions that are owned and controlled by their members. Credit unions return earnings to their members in the form of lower rates on loans and higher dividend rates on savings.
