MADISON, Wis. — Time is running out to take advantage of the "early bird" deadline for World Council of Credit Unions' (WOCCU) 2011 World Credit Union Conference in Glasgow, Scotland, July 24-27. Those who sign up before May 19 will receive a discounted rate.

During the conference, attendees will have the opportunity to connect with peers from around the world, hear from world-renowned speakers including former Prime Minister of Great Britain Gordon Brown, celebrate WOCCU's 40th anniversary and bid farewell to WOCCU president and CEO Pete Crear before he retires in August.

Pete Crear, WOCCU president and CEO, will network with attendees in Glasgow before retiring in August.

"This will be a groundbreaking conference as we celebrate WOCCU's 40th anniversary and say goodbye to Pete," said WOCCU Chair Barry Jolette, president and CEO of San Mateo Credit Union in Redwood City, Calif. "Pete has played a critical role in the worldwide credit union movement, and I hope many of his colleagues will be able to wish him well as he starts the next chapter of his life."

Throughout the conference will be local credit union visits, networking and golf events. There will also be a breakfast series featuring leading business authors. Special tributes will honor Crear's achievements and pay homage to the many triumphs of WOCCU and its members over the past 40 years.

A companion program and wide variety of sightseeing tours are also scheduled for guests and spouses to join in this year's activities.
