World Council of Credit Unions, Inc. (WOCCU) will award its sixth annual Young Credit Union People (WYCUP) Scholarship to five young credit union leaders at this year's annual conference in Dublin, Ireland, from July 27-30, 2006. Join WOCCU in supporting the future of the international credit union movement by nominating an employee or co-worker by June 2, 2006!

At the conference in Ireland, WYCUP nominees will participate in events, such as a networking session, organized specifically for them. Scholarship winners will be announced during the closing session of the conference and earn an all-expense paid trip to the 2007 World Credit Union Conference in Calgary, AB, Canada.

To be eligible for the WYCUP scholarship, nominees must:

1) be 35 years of age or younger on January 1, 2006;

2) be an active employee or volunteer with a credit union or organization affiliated with the international credit union system;

3) be personally committed and able to locally, nationally and internationally influence credit union development;

4) be sponsored by their credit union or credit union organization to attend the World Credit Union Conference held in Dublin, Ireland, from July 27-30, 2006;

5) submit a complete application form, available at https://www.woccu.org/involve/docs/wycup_pdf_engl ish.pdf, with all necessary supporting materials, to WOCCU no later than Friday, June 2, 2006.

One of the 2005 WYCUP winners, Sandra Phillips, Sales, Marketing and Branch Operations Manager for Powell River Credit Union in British Columbia, Canada praised WOCCU's facilitation of the WYCUP session at the conference, "I believe the program is successful in terms of its objective to mentor the next generation of leaders."

"The connections I made with other young leaders around the world, and the information I learned at the conference sessions was invaluable," Phillips said. "But most importantly, it is my new understanding of the impact and importance of the International Credit Union system that I have taken home with me."
