World Council Calls For 2007 WYCUP NominationsNext Generation of CU Leaders Sought
Madison, WI-Credit union leaders age 35
and
under are invited to apply for the 7th annual
World Council of Credit Unions, Inc. (WOCCU)
Young Credit Union Peoples Scholarship. The
WYCUP scholarship, which consists of an all-
expense paid trip to the 2008 World Credit Union
Conference in Hong Kong, will be awarded to five
participants at this year's Conference to be
held in Calgary, Canada July 29-August 1, 2007.
The top two ranked winners, determined by a
judging criteria point system, will also have
the opportunity to visit
a World Council project a learn more about
international credit union development.
World Council aims to ensure the future
sustainability of the international credit union
system by recognizing and promoting the next
generation of leaders WYCUP seeks individuals
who have already made significant contributions
to the development of their own credit unions,
regional or national credit union systems and
demonstrate the potential to employ their unique
talents on the international level. Credit
unions and credit union organizations affiliated
with World Council are encouraged to nominate
their next generation of credit union leaders to
compete for the WYCUP Scholarship.

of
talented and passionate individuals from around
the globe. To have the opportunity to meet,
network and develop friendships with young
leaders dedicated to the growth, success and
sustainability of the worldwide credit union
movement was and continues to be inspiring,"
explained Alison Carr, vice president, corporate
development, Point West Credit Union and 2006
WYCUP winner. Carr continued, "Words cannot
express the meaning of this award and the impact
this program has had on me personally and
professionally."
To be eligible for the WYCUP scholarship,
nominees must: 1) be sponsored by their credit
union or credit union organization to attend the
2007 World Credit Union Conference in Calgary,
Canada, 2) be 35 years of age or younger on
January 1, 2007, and 3) submit a completed
nomination form, with all necessary supporting
materials, to World Council no later than June
4, 2007.
In Calgary, WYCUP nominees will be formally
recognized as the next generation of credit
union leaders and invited to take part in events
organized specifically for those ages 35 and
under, including a networking session
Registrants age 35 and under, regardless of
whether they choose to compete for the
scholarship, also qualify for a discounted
conference registration fee.
