Madison, WI-World Council of Credit Unions is seeking nominations to recognize exceptional individuals and institutions in the international credit union community with World Council's 2007 Distinguished Service Awards.
The Distinguished Service Award is the highest honor paid to individuals and institutions by the worldwide credit union movement. Created to recognize outstanding contributions to international credit union development, the Distinguished Service Awards are presented each year at World Council's World Credit Union Conference. The next presentation will be in July 2007 in Calgary, Canada.
Nominees represent men, women and organizations that have given exemplary service to the international credit union movement and its practice. They may be World Council and member organization officers, directors or representatives, international pioneers, long- service field technicians or persons who have acted on behalf of credit union development
Since 1986, World Council has honored individuals and institutions recognized as outstanding contributors to international credit union development through the presentation of the Distinguished Service Awards. Some former honorees include: Dennis Cutter - US, Angel Castro - Panama, Al Charbonneau - Canada & U.S., Rose Dorman - Great Britain, Renford Douglas - Jamaica, Michael Sang- Ho Lee - Korea, Tod Manrell - Canada, Hermann Schulze-Delitzsch - Germany, Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen - Germany, Edward A. Filene - U.S., and Roy Frederick Bergengren - U.S. and the United States Peace Corps.
Pete Crear, World Council CEO explained, "The achievements of credit unions, world-over would not be possible without the talents, tireless dedication and commitment of individuals and organizations, that have strived to make the vision of Quality Credit Unions for Everyone a reality. We are pleased to recognize and honor these individuals and organizations whose efforts have made the credit union system what it is today."
