Global Women’s Leadership Network celebrates #ChooseToChallenge

March 08, 2021

MADISON, Wis.—Global Women’s Leadership Network (GWLN) is calling on the worldwide credit union movement to advocate that “we can all choose to seek out and celebrate women's achievements” by encouraging industry women to apply for a 2021 GWLN Scholarship beginning on International Women’s Day.

For the first time this year, the application process moves completely online to make it easier for credit union women from around the world to participate.

2021 scholarship winners will receive a complimentary one-year membership to the Global Women’s Leadership Network and complimentary registration to the 2021 World Credit Union Conference: A Virtual Event, July 14-21, 2021.

Scholarship winners are required to:

  • attend all GWLN-specific events during the 2021 World Credit Union Conference.
  • attend the 2021 Sister Society strategy session.
  • attend 2021 Scholarship winner virtual meetings.
  • provide updates showcasing their progress and growth in their credit union and communities.

Scholarship applications are due April 8, 2021.

“Through the support of our industry champions, the GWLN scholarship program continues providing opportunities for women in credit unions around the globe to challenge themselves, learn from their peers, connect and engage with one another. Each year, it is impressive to see how the number of applicants keeps increasing as women empower each other to improve themselves throughout our industry,” said Lena Giakoumopoulos, GWLN Program Director.

Since 2009, Global Women’s Leadership Network has awarded 64 scholarships to women from 24 countries. Scholarships are made possible through funding from annual membership donations and industry partner sponsorships, including the generous support of CUNA Mutual GroupCU DirectKinecta Federal Credit Union, PSCU and the Susan Adams Scholarship Fund, established in honor of former Entrust Financial Credit Union CEO Susan Adams and supported by One AZ Credit Union.
