This year's International Credit Union (ICU) Day® theme, "Credit Unions Build a Better World" celebrates the important economic
and social contributions credit unions make to their communities
worldwide. Financial cooperatives around the globe will celebrate their heritage and contributions on Oct. 20.
Use this day to raise awareness about credit unions and give members the opportunity to get more involved! Credit
unions in every part of the world celebrate this day
with open houses, contests and picnics. See more celebration ideas.
Start planning something fun and engaging at your credit union! This year, credit unions join
the greater cooperative business sector and the United Nations to
launch the 2012 International Year of Cooperatives celebration on Oct. 31.
In the United States, cooperatives across sectors celebrate October as Co-op Month. The National Cooperative Business Association (NCBA) and its member co-ops nationwide join credit unions and co-ops worldwide to share a common theme and graphics. ICU Day also coincides with the Canadian Cooperative Association's (CCA) annual celebration of Co-op Week in Canada, Oct. 16 – 22.
World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) has provided its members with ICU Day materials for more than 30 years. Check back soon for additional graphic options to meet your needs.
The U.S. Credit Union National Association (CUNA) also offers a variety of resources to help you prepare for and celebrate ICU Day.
Happy International Credit Union Day!
