Glenn Bolger

Canadian Credit Union Association (CCUA)

Glenn Bolger was appointed to the World Council of Credit Unions Board of Directors in 2026. He is Chief Executive Officer of Newfoundland and Labrador Credit Union (NLCU), the largest credit union in the province. NLCU has more than 31,000 member accounts, over $1.5 billion in member business and 130 employees across 12 locations, making a significant community impact throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.

Before becoming CEO in January 2022, Bolger served for 17 years as NLCU’s Chief Operating Officer. In that role, he oversaw branch operations, human resources, marketing, the Member Solutions Call Centre, wealth management, insurance services and facilities management. He began his career at NLCU as Director of Human Resources, a position he held for three years.

Bolger holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Co-op) degree from Memorial University, with a concentration in labour relations and human resources management. He is also a Fellow of the Credit Union Institute of Canada through Dalhousie University. He is a World Young Credit Union Professionals (WYCUP) Award recipient and was the program’s sole North American winner that year.

His extensive governance experience includes nine years on the Board of Directors of League Data, a Halifax-based financial technology provider serving Atlantic Canadian credit unions. During his tenure, he served as Vice Chair for two years and Chair for three years. In 2025, Bolger led NLCU through a successful core banking system conversion, undertaken in partnership with League Data and other Atlantic Canadian credit unions, to Mambu’s cloud-native banking platform.

Bolger has served on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Credit Union Association since 2025. He contributes to several committees, including the Governance and Human Resources Committee, Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Committee and Atlantic Canada Open Banking Committee. He also participates in Central 1’s PMX–PayModXchange Committee.

Within Atlantic Canada, Bolger chairs the Atlantic Canada Large Credit Union CEO Group and the Newfoundland and Labrador Credit Union Managers Association. He is also a longtime Board member of the NLCU Charitable Foundation and currently serves as its President and Board Chair.

Beyond the credit union sector, Bolger serves on the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement of Canada, contributing to its Human Resources Committee and Canadian Business Hall of Fame Governance Committee. He previously served for 14 years on the Board of Junior Achievement of Newfoundland and Labrador, including terms as Vice Chair, Chair and Past Chair.

Bolger resides in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, with his wife, Rhonda; their daughter, Emily; and their shih tzu, Roxy.
