Caja Popular Mexicana (CPM)

Ricardo López Enríquez was elected to the World Council of Credit Unions Board of Directors in July 2026. He is Director General of Caja Popular Mexicana (CPM), a nationwide financial cooperative serving 3.9 million members and 305,000 young savers. With a 75-year history, CPM is one of the largest cooperatives in Latin America, supported by more than 8,000 employees and 2,700 elected leaders.

López Enríquez became Director General in 2024, bringing more than 30 years of experience within CPM and the broader cooperative sector. During his career, he has held several senior leadership positions, including Deputy Director of Organization and Methods, Regional Deputy Director, Director of Credit and Collections, and Deputy Administrative Director.

He also serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Federación Integradora Central de Cooperativas de Ahorro y Préstamo (Central Integrating Federation of Savings and Loan Cooperatives). The federation represents 10 financial cooperatives and 4.5 million members and belongs to the Confederación de Cooperativas de Ahorro y Préstamo de México (Concamex), which collectively represents more than 10 million members.

At CPM, López Enríquez has played a central role in major initiatives supporting the cooperative’s growth and modernization. His work has included implementing enterprise technology systems, leading two core banking projects, restructuring credit and collections operations, managing loan-origination and credit-scoring models, and redesigning organizational and operational systems. He has also helped diversify CPM’s services through the introduction of debit cards, ATMs, a call center, correspondent banking services, member segmentation and broader digital transformation.

Known for his pragmatic and collaborative leadership style, López Enríquez focuses on building high-performing teams, encouraging dialogue and finding consensus that benefits all stakeholders.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in corporate finance.
