Mike Reuter

Executive Director - Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions

A nonprofit professional since 2005, Mike joined World Council as the Executive Director of its Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions in 2018, tasked with scaling its fundraising capacity and deepening engagement between the U.S. and international credit union systems.

His goal: transform lives by growing and strengthening credit unions.

Mike travels to all corners of the U.S. and often the global credit union system to bring credit union people together, and to share the challenges and successes of our movement worldwide with the aim of creating greater awareness and resources to grow credit unions internationally, or as Mike calls it, “Doing Global Good.”

Since 2018, the Worldwide Foundation has increased its annual fundraising revenue by an average of 113% per year, while coordinating numerous international credit union disaster relief campaigns, credit union-to-credit union learning journeys and, currently, helping lead World Council’s support efforts toward Ukraine’s credit union system.

As a former museum director and professional, Mike values the importance of honoring and learning from our past as we strive to create a better world, with a love of history and museums never far from his thoughts.

Mike holds a master’s degree in museum studies/history from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Mike is also a graduate of the “Best Class Ever,” CUDE Class of May 2018, as well as a recent recipient the Certified Fundraising Executive “CFRE” certification in 2021. Mike has given over 100 professional presentations cutting across topics both historical and credit union related.

A rabid Green Bay Packer fan, Mike cherishes time with his family, living in the village of Mount Horeb in his home state of Wisconsin with his wife Beth and twin daughters, Ella & Grace.
