Paul Treinen

President and CEO

Paul Treinen took over as full-time President and CEO of World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) in August 2025, after serving in the role on an interim basis for four months. He had previously worked for WOCCU from 2017 to 2023, first as Chief Operating Officer, and later as Executive Vice President.  

In 2023, Treinen became the founder/CEO of a consulting practice focused on helping organizations looking for assistance in international development, strategy, governance and operational efficiency.

Prior to assuming his current role, Treinen had over 30 years working with the cooperative financial sector where his focus was on development and on-going business management in more than 20 countries throughout Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. He continues that work today as an independent director with four companies serving the financial services sector in the Caribbean and Central America regions.
