Matt Lewis
General Counsel
Matt Lewis serves as General Counsel for the World Council of Credit Unions, where he leads the organization’s legal strategy and governance functions. In this role, he provides counsel on nonprofit, political and regulatory matters, oversees enterprise risk management processes and serves as a key liaison to the Board of Directors, including support for the Board’s Governance and Elections Committee. He also partners closely with WOCCU’s advocacy team to support the continued expansion of the organization’s global advocacy efforts.
Matt is an experienced attorney with a deep focus on nonprofit, political and regulatory law. Over the course of his career, he has provided strategic legal counsel to a wide range of clients, including corporations, trade associations, social welfare organizations, political candidates and advocacy groups. His expertise includes lobbying compliance, government ethics, tax exemption and political activity, helping organizations navigate complex legal and policy environments with clarity and confidence.
