Nathan Coplin

International Advocacy Associate

Nathan Coplin serves as an International Advocacy Associate for the World Council of Credit Unions, where he leads international advocacy and policy engagement efforts focused on advancing cooperative finance, financial inclusion and equitable economic systems. In this role, he works with global standard-setting bodies, governments and multilateral institutions to strengthen the policy environment for credit unions and cooperative financial institutions worldwide.

Nathan brings more than 15 years of experience in international advocacy, macro-fiscal policy, financial governance and economic justice. Throughout his career, he has worked across both large international organizations and grassroots coalitions, building expertise in coalition development, public policy strategy and global stakeholder engagement. Known for his ability to navigate complex international policy landscapes, he brings a collaborative and mission-driven approach to advancing systemic financial change.

Originally from Flint, Michigan, Nathan has lived and worked in Argentina, Bangladesh, Costa Rica, New Jersey and South Korea, experiences that continue to shape his global perspective and commitment to inclusive economic development. For the past 11 years, the Washington, D.C. area has been home, and he currently lives in Silver Spring, Maryland with his partner and two children, Charles and Chase.
