Eleni Giakoumopoulos

Director of Global Women's Leadership Network (GWLN) - Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions

Giakoumopoulos has over 30 years of international experience in communications, education, financial services and consultancy, working in 30 countries.

Her background includes managing European Union cross-border cooperation programs through consultancy work, membership recruitment for a national trade association, content development for print and digital media and directing career services at the American College of Thessaloniki, an educational organization in Northern Greece.

Prior to joining World Council as the Corporate Communications Manager in 2017, she was part of the board communications team at the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank, an international finance institution, working with ministries of finance and foreign affairs, supporting economic development and regional cooperation in the Black Sea region.

In her role with GWLN since 2018, she is responsible for leading the program, raising awareness and growing membership to GWLN domestically and internationally, expanding local GWLN member groups (Sister Societies) across the globe and developing educational content for the network. In 2025, she was recognized by the GWLN community for her commitment and leadership in growing GWLN to a premier global program and received the first Pink Gem Award. 

She is a member of the International Association of Business Communicators. She volunteers and serves on the board of the local chapter for the Ladies Philoptochos Society, Inc., the philanthropic arm of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.

Giakoumopoulos is fluent in Greek, proficient in French and holds a master’s degree in global marketing from the University of Liverpool.
