Strengthening the next generation of women and emerging leaders in cooperative finance

January 05, 2026

MADISON, Wis.— Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions (WFCU) is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2026 Global Women’s Leadership Network (GWLN) Scholarship and the 2026 World Young Credit Union Professionals (WYCUP) Scholarship.

Both initiatives offer career-elevating experiences designed for leaders within the international credit union community.

GWLN Scholarship Program

In alignment with its commitment to advancing women in leadership positions throughout the credit union system, GWLN provides an annual scholarship opportunity for women working across the global cooperative finance sector.

The awardees will receive a fully funded opportunity to attend the 2026 World Credit Union Conference (WCUC) in Sydney, Australia (July 19–22), including airfare, accommodations and conference registration.

Recipients will take part in GWLN activities, meet with supporters and Sister Society leaders and engage with the broader WCUC delegation. Their learning journey will include interactive sessions, peer exchanges and participation in the 2026 GWLN Lunch & Learn breakout event.

WYCUP Scholarship Program

Marking its 25th anniversary, WYCUP will provide 2026 scholarship recipients with a unique chance not only to attend WCUC 2026 in Sydney but also to join a full day dedicated to emerging leaders. On July 19, WYCUP and Customer Owned Banking Association (COBA) will co-host the Emerging Leaders’ Summit, followed by a reception bringing together executives, innovators and young changemakers under 40 from more than 70 countries.

WYCUP scholarships cover transportation, lodging and registration expenses, granting access to exclusive gatherings, global networking and professional growth opportunities.

This program offers young professionals a remarkable platform to influence the future of cooperative finance and build meaningful international connections.

The application deadline for both programs is January 30, 2026.
