Four Scholarships Awarded by Global Women’s Leadership Network
MADISON, Wis.—Global Women’s Leadership Network (GWLN) awarded four scholarships to credit union industry women in May, officially making them members of the Network and providing them with opportunities for professional development, networking and skill diversification. Additionally in 2022, GWLN is offering scholars the opportunity to receive an Empowerment Grant to implement a new or continuing, home-based project focused on empowering women, their credit union members and/or their local communities.

Economic Inclusion Project Efforts Boost Sustainable Livelihoods for 70,000-plus in Peru and Ecuador
LIMA, Peru—The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) on May 20 brought together partners virtually for the sixth quarterly meeting of the Economic Inclusion Project, where stakeholders presented data showing just how successful EIP staff has been in generating better opportunities for the Venezuelan migrant and refugee population, and vulnerable local communities in Peru and Ecuador.

WOCCU/ENCU Applaud European Parliament Agreement on Digital Operational Resilience Act
MADISON, Wis.—The European Council presidency and European Parliament reached a provisional agreement on the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) that allows for proportional treatment of credit unions under new regulatory requirements on the security of financial institution network and information systems, as well as critical third parties that provide ICT- (information communication technologies) related services to them, such as cloud platforms and data analytics services.

USAID and WOCCU Introduce Two Virtual Platforms for Economic and Financial Sustainability in Ecuador
QUITO, Ecuador—With the objective of enhancing and facilitating the sustainability of the economic inclusion processes that credit unions, NGOs, public sector entities, universities and other organizations carry out, the Economic Inclusion Project (EIP), a USAID-funded activity implemented by World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU), has created two distinct virtual platforms for mobile devices that are designed to benefit Venezuelan migrants and low-income locals in Ecuador and Peru.
