USAID Extends Economic Inclusion Project into 2026
MADISON, Wis.—The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) this month extended the flagship project of its Venezuela Regional Response Program through May 2026, awarding $14 million to World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) to continue implementation of the Economic Inclusion Project (EIP) in Peru and Ecuador on a much larger scale.

WOCCU Economic Inclusion Project Joins Partners to Launch Financial Education Network in Ecuador
QUITO, Ecuador—The USAID/World Council of Credit Unions’ (WOCCU) Economic Inclusion Project (EIP) in April joined Transactional Network of Credit Unions (Coonecta) and the Ecuadorian Integration Network of Credit Unions (ICORED) to launch the Financial Education Network in Ecuador—a new program designed to coordinate efforts between the three entities to more effectively promote financial education and inclusion, as well as economic growth.

WOCCU to Put World Credit Union Conference Climate Action Donations Toward Conservation and Sustainable Agroforestry Efforts in Colombia
MADISON, Wis.—World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) announced today that climate action donations from 2023 World Credit Union Conference (WCUC) attendees will go toward a cooperative-owned initiative to restore and reforest 3,500 hectares (8,649 acres) of degraded pastureland in rural Colombia.

$41,000 Targeted for Turkish Agricultural Credit Cooperatives Devastated by February Earthquakes
MADISON, Wis.—Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions (WFCU) is providing a $41,000 grant to Tarim Kredi (Agricultural Credit Cooperatives of Turkey) for the purchase of ten portable office units that will allow some of their credit cooperatives to resume operations halted since two February 6 earthquakes caused significant damage to their permanent structures.

WOCCU Accepting Applications for Board ‘Observers’
MADISON, Wis.—Emerging credit union leaders under the age of 40 and women of any age are invited to apply for a new fellowship program that will designate one person from each of those categories as “Observers” on the World Council of Credit Unions’ (WOCCU) Board of Directors.
