Erin O'Hern

International Advocacy and Regulatory Counsel

Erin O’Hern currently serves as International Advocacy and Regulatory Counsel for World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU). In her role, Erin engages in regulatory advocacy efforts on behalf of credit unions worldwide before various international standard setting bodies, such as the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, the Financial Action Task Force and others. Erin also supports WOCCU member advocacy efforts within their individual countries.

Erin brings over 15 years of experience working on financial regulations, with an emphasis on the intersection of regulations and financial inclusion. Before joining WOCCU, Erin worked for ViClarity, an international subsidiary of three U.S. credit union leagues, where she led league-supported compliance services, provided education on emerging regulations, and supported technology-related risk and compliance projects.

Erin previously led the Iowa Credit Union League’s regulatory advocacy efforts, advocating for credit unions at the state and federal level within the United States. Before her work on behalf of credit unions, Erin served as a staff attorney for a legal aid organization, handling a variety of consumer financial protection and abuse prevention cases.

Erin is a long-time volunteer for English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for new immigrants. She holds her Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa College of Law.
