Seed kits delivered to Anisia CU member farmers

The war launched by Russia against Ukraine has impacted small agricultural producers across the country. In addition to the overall uncertainty about the future, supply chains have been greatly disrupted—slowing down or stalling normal agricultural processes.

In a joint effort to alleviate some of those supply chain issues, the USAID/World Council of Credit Unions’ Credit for Agriculture Producers (CAP) Project and USAID Agriculture Growing Rural Opportunities Activity (AGRO) worked together to ensure micro and small agricultural producers get access to seeds under the #HorodynaUA program.

Under #HorodnyaUA, AGRO connected the Ukrainian Berries Association (UBA) with Anisia Credit Union—a Lviv-based partner credit union of the CAP Project—to get free vegetable seeds to agricultural producers.  

A total of 90 Anisia Credit Union members, including 23 active borrowers, received free seeds to plant zucchini, carrots, beets, tomatoes and cabbage.

The initiative reduces the financial burden on micro agricultural producers in the region and strengthens ties with the local credit union—their trusted financial partner.
