Joseph Remy

Caribbean Confederation of Credit Unions (CCCU)

Joseph serves as the President of the Caribbean Confederation of Credit Unions (CCCU) Board of Directors and as President of the Cooperative Credit Union League of Trinidad and Tobago. A former Human Resource Analyst for the Telecommunication Services of Trinidad and Tobago Limited, he was elected President of Consolidated Telephones Credit Union, a position he served in from 1996 to 2005.

An avid Trade Unionist and Credit Unionist, Joseph served as the former President and Secretary General of the Communication Workers Union and has served with several trade and labor unions.

He also served as the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Cipriani College of Labour and Co-operative Studies, during the period 2010 o 2014, a premier Regional Tertiary Educational Institution, based in Trinidad and Tobago, specializing in Labour and Co-operative Studies. He is currently serving as a member of a Government-appointed National Implementation Committee tasked with the mandate of advancing the Role of Credit Unions in National Development and formulating a new legislative/regulatory Framework for Credit Unions in Trinidad and Tobago.

Joseph is at present serving as the President of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions and Non-Governmental Organizations, FITUN, an independent Federation of leading Trade Unions and Non-governmental Organizations in Trinidad and Tobago and represented the Labour Movement on several State Boards inclusive of the National Productivity Council and the National 

Tripartite Advisory Council, a tri-partite body comprising of Government, Business and Labour, that provided advice to the Government on critical and important National Policy Matters.

Joseph has a certificate in legal studies from London International College, a certificate in Human Resources Management from the University of the West Indies and obtained the professional in Human Resource Management (PHR) from the Society of Human Resource Management during the period 2006-2008. He has a National Certificate in Telecommunication Technology from John Donaldson Technical Institute, Trinidad and Tobago. Joseph resides in Trinidad and Tobago.
