Helping Credit Unions Manage the Pandemic

World Council of Credit Unions has established a committee dedicated to identifying best practices and strategies that credit unions around the globe can utilize in their response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Advocacy +
Advocating on behalf of credit unions in front of international standard setting bodies, and before regional- and national-level regulators to ensure compliance requirements are reasonable for credit unions and smaller community-based financial insitutions.
 
Digital Transformation +
Supporting the development and implementation of digital banking options that will allow credit unions to keep members and staff safe during the pandemic.
 
Credit Union Financial Strength +
Providing financial and institutional supports to credit unions and other financial cooperatives affiliated with World Council member associations and leagues to ensure the communities supported by our member credit unions have the necessary financial tools and supports needed to navigate this crisis.
 

Webinars

The COVID-19 Response Committee will host bimonthly webinars for credit unions. 

Our second webinar, COVID-19 Related Money-Laundering and Terrorism-Financing Risks,  is scheduled for Thursday, November 19 at 9:00 a.m. (US CST). It will include presentations on:

  • The challenges, good practices and policy responses to new money laundering and terrorist financing threats and vulnerabilities arising from the COVID-19 crisis,  by Shana Krishnan, Policy Analyst, Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
  • How credit unions and other cooperative financial institutions must advocate for proportional treatment on AML/CFT regulations, with Andrew Price, WOCCU Senior Vice President of Advocacy and John Byrne, Esq., CAMS, Executive Vice President, Chairman AML RightSource Advisory Board.
